Overview

Kaufman Dolowich, recognized by U.S. News as one of the “Best Companies to Work For – Law Firms,” is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Financial Services Representative to join our Collections team in our Woodbury, Long Island office. This is a hybrid position, with 2–3 days per week required on-site.

 

The Financial Services Representative will be responsible for overseeing aging accounts receivable and ensuring the timely collection of outstanding payments. This role requires a strategic approach to collections, regular collaboration with attorneys and client service teams, and resolution of payment disputes. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement tailored collections strategies using BillBlast and Coyote
  • Review and reconcile billing, AR, and WIP data to resolve discrepancies and assess credit risk
  • Communicate with clients to obtain payment commitments, resolve issues, and negotiate arrangements
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of collection activities and follow-ups
  • Monitor e-bill statuses and prepare AR and collections reports for management review
  • Partner with the Sr. Revenue Manager to manage portfolios and improve collections performance
  • Ensure adherence to firm policies and escalate issues when appropriate
  • Contribute to process improvements, special projects, and departmental initiatives
  • Mentor and assist junior staff as needed
  • Perform other duties as required to support firm operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience with college-level accounting coursework
  • Minimum of 10 years of collections experience
  • At least 3 years of billing or collections experience in a law firm
  • Experience with insurance carriers and knowledge of SIRs/deductibles strongly preferred
  • Experience with BillBlast highly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and excellent follow-through
  • Strong analytical skills; intermediate Excel skills (V-Lookup, Pivot Tables) required
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with attorneys, staff, and clients
  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage competing deadline

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Target Hiring Range: $75,000 – $95,000

Actual compensation will be determined based on market location, as well as the candidate’s experience, skills, and job-related qualifications.
