The Woodbury, Long Island office of Kaufman Dolowich is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Construction/Commercial Litigation group. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in construction business disputes between owners, general contractors and subcontractors, which concern breach of contract claims, delay claims, mechanic’s lien claims, and bond claims.

Kaufman Dolowich’s construction law practice is well-known for providing comprehensive legal services to the construction industry by handling the full range of issues involved in both private and public construction project. Our construction attorneys handle issues at all phases of a construction project, from contract negotiations and drafting to contract administration to dispute resolution. By delivering the full scope of services, we are able to see the big picture and take proactive steps to mitigate risk. We help developers, project owners, construction managers, contractors and trade contractors limit exposure to liability and loss through effective construction administration.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assess information and documents provided by clients
  • Prepare pleadings
  • Perform research relating to case issues
  • Participate in and oversee written discovery
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Prepare and argue motions, including summary judgment motions in both State and Federal Courts throughout New York
  • Attend and defend and/or prosecute trials and other hearings
  • Assist with contract review and preparation

 

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of commercial litigation with experience in construction disputes between owners, general contractors and subcontractors, which concern breach of contract claims, delay claims, mechanic’s lien claims, and bond claims
  • Experience in construction contract issues and review preferred.
  • JD degree or equivalent with superior academic credentials
  • Admittance to practice in New York
  • Superior academic credentials
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously

Base Salary Range: $110,000 – $150,000. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific offer. Actual compensation will be determined based on market location, as well as the candidate’s experience, skills, and job-related qualifications. Base salary represents just one component of the comprehensive Total Rewards package offered by Kaufman Dolowich, which also includes a discretionary and billable hours-based bonus program and a robust benefits offering for full-time employees.
