The Kaufman Dolowich Woodbury, Long Island office—part of a nationally recognized law firm with more than 250 attorneys nationwide and honored by U.S. News as one of the “Best Companies to Work For – Law Firms”—is seeking a General Liability Associate Attorney with 1+ years of experience to join our growing and highly collaborative General Liability Defense team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-exposure litigation matters alongside experienced litigators. Responsibilities
- Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution in a collaborative team environment
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery demands and responses, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents
- Conduct court appearances, depositions, inspections, mediations, settlement negotiations, and motion practice
- Handle a broad range of general liability defense matters, including premises liability and New York Labor Law construction accident cases
- Communicate directly with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and witnesses while providing regular case updates and strategic guidance
- Participate in oral arguments, court conferences, and trial preparation
- Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters
Qualifications
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- Admission to practice law in New York required
- 1+ year of insurance defense and/or general liability litigation experience
- Experience handling general liability defense matters, including premises liability and construction accident litigation preferred
- Exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Strong organizational and case management abilities with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Base Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000

Base salary represents one component of Kaufman Dolowich’s comprehensive Total Rewards package, which also includes a discretionary and billable hours-based bonus program and a robust benefits offering for full-time employees.
