The Dallas office of Kaufman Dolowich LLP, an AV-rated national law firm, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support attorneys in its litigation practice.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, providing both substantive and administrative support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case management from inception through resolution.
- Draft, prepare, and organize pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
- Conduct legal and factual research utilizing available resources and research platforms.
- Review, summarize, and analyze documents, including medical records and deposition transcripts.
- Prepare and organize exhibits, trial binders, arbitration materials, and hearing notebooks.
- Coordinate document productions, including redactions and Bates labeling.
- Draft and prepare discovery materials, including Requests for Production, Interrogatories, Requests for Admissions, and Notices.
- Prepare timelines, case summaries, charts, and other litigation support materials.
- Handle electronic filing in state, federal, and appellate courts and ensure compliance with applicable court rules and deadlines.
- Monitor court dockets and obtain case information through PACER and other court systems.
- Coordinate scheduling of depositions, hearings, mediations, and other case-related events.
- Obtain, review, and summarize medical, employment, and other records relevant to litigation matters.
- Prepare and process HIPAA authorizations and follow up with providers regarding records requests.
- Draft preservation letters, document requests, and routine legal correspondence.
- Assist with communications involving clients, witnesses, experts, and regulatory agencies, including the EEOC and Texas Workforce Commission.
- Manage settlement documentation from agreement through dismissal and payment processing.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant, Litigation Paralegal, or in a similar litigation support role.
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and legal document preparation.
- Experience supporting General Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Professional Liability, Insurance Coverage, or related litigation matters preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
- Experience with electronic filing in state and federal courts.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
