Kaufman Dolowich, a full-service national law firm with more than 250 attorneys across 16 offices and more than 25 practice areas, is seeking an experienced Contract Attorney to support our growing litigation practice in Dallas, Texas.

We are seeking a Texas-admitted attorney with substantial defense litigation experience in hospitality, premises liability, general liability, business/commercial litigation, insurance defense, or related practice areas. This contract role is well suited for an experienced litigator who can work independently, manage a fast-paced caseload, and provide responsive legal support on active matters.

 

Contract Engagement

This is a contract attorney position supporting the firm's litigation practice. The attorney will be engaged on an as-needed or matter-specific basis, with assignments and workload determined by the firm's litigation needs.

The role may be particularly attractive to an experienced litigator seeking flexible contract work while maintaining an active litigation practice. Portable business is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Handle assigned aspects of defense litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research, factual investigation, discovery, motion practice, and case analysis.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
  • Assist with depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Attend state and federal court proceedings and other client-related meetings in Texas as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with partners, associates, claims professionals, and clients.
  • Manage multiple matters and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide timely and high-quality work product with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with matters involving hotels, managed properties, premises liability, general liability, commercial disputes, and insurance-related claims.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of defense litigation experience preferred.
  • Experience in hospitality, hotels or managed properties, premises liability, general liability, business/commercial litigation, insurance defense, or a related practice area.
  • Texas bar admission required.
  • Trial and arbitration experiences are strongly preferred.
  • Experience appearing in both Texas state and federal courts.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation matters.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Strong judgment, professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to attend meetings, hearings, depositions, and court appearances in Texas as required.
